Transfer Process

The following SOP contains the whole process of initiating and forwarding a transfer request within the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment. It also sets the authority of approving transfer requests. This guide is valid for transfer requests at all levels (Section, Platoon, Company, Battalion).

Definition

A transfer is when a member moves from one sub-unit to another within the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment.

Approval

A standard line/combat billet transfer cannot be denied and can be made for any reason, so they should usually be approved. The only reason to deny a transfer would be for logistical reasons if the receiving unit is already full or units need to be balanced when being stood up or down. A transfer is also not effected by active No Favorable Action (NFA). In most cases, a transfer should be requested by the member and then processed by the appropriate Staff after 24 hours.

Holds

However, Staff do deserve to be notified of all transfers within their scope of command so they can monitor changes to their unit's strength. Therefore, a transfer request may be held for up to 24 more hours to allow Staff time to see the transfer and communicate with the trooper if desired. Or it may be held up to 7 days (one week) if disciplinary action is pending in order to allow Staff an appropriate amount of time to complete the pending disciplinary action. A transfer will never be a way to avoid disciplinary action.

Primary Billet Transfers

If a Trooper wishes to transfer outside of their Company, they will fill out the transfer PAF.

  • Transfers from Battalion to Battalion will be approved by the Chief of Staff or their designate.
  • Transfers from Company to Company in the same Battalion must be approved by a member of Battalion Staff on the transfer PAF.
  • Transfers within a Company, within a Platoon, and within a Section can all be handled internally. No PAF required.

Posting authority lies with the receiving element lead.

Eligible Transfer Destinations:

Note: Transfer to the Reserve requires additional eligibility. Please see 7th Cavalry Reserve.
Note: Transfer to a Starter Platoon may require additional requirements.

Section Practice Times Threads

If your schedule changes and your current Section Practice time no longer works, please review the appropriate Battalion Section Times Thread and contact your CoC for an internal transfer or (if outside your Company) request a transfer PAF to a Section with a practice time that works for you.

Leadership Transfers

Leadership in a primary billet seeking transfer to an equivalent command level must register their intent to transfer with the assigning authority for that position prior to it being filled. If the position is open, and has not already been offered to another member prior to the transfer request's communication, the transferring leader has priority if otherwise qualified and in good standing. For more information about billet selections and transfer priority for leadership, please see the Billets SOP.

Secondary Billets

Troopers may be eligible to transfer into a Secondary Billet as their Primary Billet. Read more about transferring to a Secondary Billet in the Billets SOP.
