Since then, he has served in multiple leadership roles including Platoon Leader, and Company Commander of Alpha Company, where he held his longest command from May 2023 until his promotion to Battalion Commander of the newly stood up 3/7 battalion in April 2024. He has served the S7 department as the ITW Lead and continues to train future Pilots as an instructor. He is the DCS S3 Senior and RTC lead for ACD. He holds his aviator wings and multiple course badges. He also holds multiple combat awards including the silver star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, a Purple Heart, as well as Defense Distinguished Service Medal and Legion of Merit. He was named A/ACD Officer of the Year in 2023.

His Cav career began in the Arma MOS where he spent many years reinvigorating the flight programs, He was instrumental in rewriting the Arma flight schools for both rotary and fixed, and more recently developed hours of training materials for the Superhornet mod. During his Arma career he held positions of PSG, Company XO, Company Commander, SGM, and Battalion Commander; however David will tell you he is most proud of earning his Ranger Tabs on his 2nd try. He has served long tenures in S1, S2, S3, and S7. He holds his Master Aviator Wings, Master Parachutist Badge, and Master Instructor Badge. Since then he has served in multiple leadership roles including Section Leader, Platoon Sergeant and Company First Sergeant, where he held his longest command from October 2023 until his promotion to Battalion Sergeant Major of 3-7 battalion in April 2024. He has served in several secondary billets including S1, S3, RTC, and most notably S7 as an ITW Senior Instructor where he continues to train future Pilots. He holds his aviator wings as well as multiple combat awards including the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, a Purple Heart, as well as Meritorious Service Medal and Legion of Merit. He was named A/ACD NCO of the Year in 2023.

He spent most of his time assisting Company Staff in the development of Rotary Sections. Within the first 3 months, he passed flight school, was promoted to WO1 and assigned ASL. He also received his first award, NCO of the month, in April 2010. During his time in the Cav, he held various positions as ASL, SL, PSG, and 1SG. He has also held secondary billets in S1, RTC, MP, RRD, and S6. After a long retirement, Alexander returned to the Cav on March 25th, 2023, joining A/ACD's Apache Section (later known as A/2/B/3-7).

3rd Battalion is a unit-level organization of the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment. It is administratively known as 3–7, which is the abbreviation used in MILPACs and the Forums. 3-7 is the home of Digital Combat Simulator (DCS) World in 7CAV, and is currently comprised of two Companies: Alpha and Bravo. 3-7 aims to be one of the premier aviation simulation units in the world!

Alpha Company A/3-7 is naval based with the bulk of the Company being comprised of F/A-18C “Hornet” and F-14B “Tomcat” carrier based aircraft, whilst the remainder of the Company fields the A-10C "Warthog" Close-Air Support attack aircraft, the AV-8B Harrier, and the Support Section. The Support Section provides many functions that serve to provide deeper and immersive gameplay including: Air traffic Control, Marshall and Landing Signal Officers, C2 Command & Control, Advanced Warning and Control Systems, and flight logistics utilizing aircraft including the UH-60 Medium Lift Helicopter, CH-47 Heavy Lift Helicopter, and the C-130J Hercules transport aircraft.

Bravo Company A/3-7  is land based with the bulk of the Company is comprised of F-16C “Viper” and F-15E “Mudhen” aircraft whilst the remainder of the Company fields the rotary AH-64D “Apache” Attack helicopter. Bravo Company is also home to our “Front-seater”/ “Back-seater” MOS: the Co-Pilot Gunner (CP/G) of the Apache, and the Weapons System Officer (WSO) of the Mudhen. These aircraft provide extremely powerful air-to-air and all-weather capabilities as well as synergy for combined attack tactics utilizing their multicrew capabilities.

3rd Battalion's Area of Operation (AO) is DCS World.

Alpha Company serves as the naval and support section.
