7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment Names

Due to our MILPACS roster system, every member is required to have a unique name. Depending on the medium, the standard format for identification is RNK.Last.F, =7CAV=RNK.Last.F, or Rank Last.F.

  • RNK = Rank abbreviation
  • Last = Last name
  • F = First initial of first name

Name Violations

When members (and former members) are not using the correct naming convention in the right medium, you are considered "out of uniform", misrepresenting your membership in the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment, and subject to counseling or disciplinary action.

Name Changes

A member may request one name change during their career with the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment with the following requirements:

  • Must be requested within the first 30 days of enlistment.
  • Names must include a realistic forename and surname; not necessarily your real name.
  • Troopers may not choose (within the limits of common sense) any of the following as names:
    • Historically important names
    • Actors
    • Musicians
    • Cartoon names
    • Names of importance from novels, television, movies, etc.
    • Religious names
    • Other famous names (See section below)
  • Names cannot have any special characters or spaces in them as this causes problems with the MILPACS system.

Famous Names

When evaluating potentially famous names, approval authorities shall strive to use their best judgment following the guidelines below:

  • If the entire first page of a Google search references the same individual, the name must be modified.
  • If the results provide a substantial Wiki page, the name must be modified.
  • Stardom - If the name in question is relatively unknown, it may be approved.

Modifications: Famous Names may not be circumvented by adding a middle initial nor expanding the name. This will not satisfy the unique requirement to differentiate from the original name. (Example: Tom Cruise cannot be modified to Tom David Cruise, Thomas Cruise, Tom Cruiser, nor Tom McCruise, etc.)

Approval Authority

  • The Regimental Recruiting Oversight Officer (ROO), Aide to the ROO, RRD HQ, and their designates have approval authority for name change requests that meet the above requirements
  • General Staff

Note: See Exceptions for approval authority when a name change request does not meet the normal requirements, which must be approved by the Regimental Chief of Staff.

Requesting a Name Change

To request a name change, use our ticket system to submit an RRD Name Change Ticker. Please make sure you meet the requirements or your request will be rejected.

Exceptions

Exceptions to this SOP may be made at the discretion of the General Staff depending on the needs of the Regiment. If you do not meet the name change requirements and believe your case deserves an exception, you can submit the RRD Name Change Ticket for a name change, but it will require review and approval from the Regimental Chief of Staff or their designate.
