Kyle McGehee (May 3, 1987 - June 12, 2018) was a member of the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment. McGehee distinguished himself in the S3 department, where he aided in multiple projects which included the creation of the 12B MOS and spearheaded additional research into the 11C and 68W MOS', all of which provided the 7th Cavalry a new form of tactical doctorine in 7th Cavalry ARMA III operations. McGehee additionally organized high quality public operations, which greatly aided in recruitment and the overall public image of regiment. Through his actions and efforts, he was posthumously awarded one of the highest attainable awards in the 7th Cavalry Regiment, the Ronnie "Coldblud" Bussey Lifetime Achievement Medal.

7th Cavalry Career

First Battalion Service

Kyle McGehee enlisted to the 7th Cavalry Regiment on May 5th, 2017 and graduated Bootcamp two weeks later on the 14th of May. After completing bootcamp, McGehee was assigned as an airborne infantryman in Charlie Company, 1st Battalion.

Over the next 4 months, McGehee attended 10 operations. In this time, he was awarded enlisted trooper of the month for creating an external artillery calculator which would prove the foundation for his future efforts in S3. Additionally, McGehee would be awarded the Army Commendation Medal with Valor for providing accurate artillery engagements while under fire in Operation White Lion.

On the 26th of September of 2017, Kyle McGehee would be chosen as the Honor Graduate of the Non Commissioned Officer Academy Leadership course, and would be promoted to Corporal 3 months later.

McGehee was once again awarded enlisted trooper of the month for January, 2018 for exceptional service to his section.

In April of the same year, McGehee was promoted to section leader of Bravo Section, Third Platoon, Charlie Company, First Battalion, and was promoted to Sergeant shortly thereafter, where he would remain for the rest of his career.

S3 Service

Kyle McGehee joined the S3 department as a Public Operations Staff member on the 12th of August 2017 and was assigned leader of S3 Public Operations on the 7th of May, 2018. McGehee served with distinction in the public operations department throughout his career, where his public operations maintained quality and player engagement, which brought many new players into the 7th Cavalry Regiment. During McGehee's tenure in S3 Public Operations, the public engagement from S3 was at one of its all time highs, McGehee's methods in S3 would lay the foundations for current public engagement strategies, via the use of high quality and engaging operations that anyone, regardless of 7th Cavalry membership could enjoy.

Shortly after joining the S3 Public Operations department, McGehee joined the S3 School of Infantry as an instructor. In this time, in addition to his instructional duties, McGehee began to gather information regarding the 11C (Indirect Fire Infantryman) MOS to provide the best possible education for his students. McGehee additionally gathered info for the creation of a new 7th Cavalry MOS, which would develop into the billet known Apollo, a logistics and medical based unit. McGehee also developed courses integral to combat engineers (e.g The Sapper Course) and additionally drafted specific SOP's to be used in operational and nonoperational settings. For these actions in creating a new MOS for the 7th Cavalry and his dedication to his duty, Kyle McGehee was posthumously awarded the Ron "Coldblud" Ronnie "Coldblud" Bussey Lifetime Achievement Medal.

Over his time in S3, McGehee climbed the ranks of S3 and would become the Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of S3. McGehee additionally maintained leadership positions in S3 mod test staff and public operations in conjunction with his responsibilities of S3 Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge.

Kyle McGehee passed on the 12th of June, 2018, two months after becoming the Non-Commissioned Officer of the S3 Department. A memorial for McGehee was held on the 7th Cavalry Tactical Realism 2 Public Server on the 11th of August, 2018. Footage of the event may be found Here.

Legacy

Kyle McGehee is remembered by his section members, the public players who enjoyed his operations, and both the S3 Operations and S7 Training departments. McGehee is remembered amongst his sections for his laid back and easily approachable demeanor as well as his ability to bring the best out of his followers, friends and students.

McGehee's work continues in the Kyle C. McGehee Sapper Course. In which, students are expected to develop knowledge in the use, handling, and disposal of explosives in an operational setting. The course was named in his honor for his dedication to the S7 department.

The Apollo and Mustang units of Bravo Troop, First Battalion continued operations in Mcgehee's name, and provided a support role to all units when required. Mustang was responsible for providing advanced medical (68W MOS) support, while Apollo issued logistical (12B MOS) and indirect fire support (11C) for all 7th Cavalry ARMA III Operations.

Due to to shortages in manpower, Bravo Troop had to restructure. As a result, the indirect fire traditions are continued by Charlie Company 1st Battalion, while the Mustang and Apollo units became the Atlas unit within 3rd Platoon, Bravo Troop with each MOS having dedicated sections for their supported MOS'. Further reduction in manpower forced temporary suspension of logistical services and merging medical squads into 1st Platoon, Bravo Troop where they remain as of September, 2021.

The Regimental Commander of the 7th Cavalry Regiment takes pleasure in presenting the Command Sergeant Major Cold Lifetime Achievement to Sergeant Kyle Mcgehee for his loyalty, dedication, exceptional meritorious and distinguished service, and above all a commitment to the ideals in which Command Sergeant Major Cold stood for, since 3 May 2017. Since enlisting in the 7th Cavalry Regiment, Sergeant Mcgehee has been an example to his peers, working tirelessly and selflessly for the betterment of the Regiment. Starting as a trooper in Charlie Company, First Battalion, Sergeant Mcgehee through self study increased his operational knowledge of the 11C MOS and become a Senior Instructor of the School of Infantry to teach others; dedicating his time to the needs of his students. As he continued to teach, he became the lead for S3 mod testing and public staff, as well as being promoted to the NCOIC of S3. In this capacity he lead his staff members and departments into a new era of training. The advances brought forward through his teachings allowed not only a more immersive experience for the regiment, but created a new support asset, the 12Bs known as Apollo. Sergeant Mcgehee wrote the SOPs and doctrines which allowed for higher fidelity in operations, as well as taking the strain off of mission controllers that before had to dedicate focus to keeping friendly assets moving. His achievements, dedication to progress, and desire to bring enjoyment to all members of the regiment allowed for the improvements of the scenarios that benefited members and non-members in both operations and MCC's. The distinctive accomplishments of Sergeant Kyle Mcgeehee reflect great credit upon himself, his staff, his company, and the 7th Cavalry Regiment as a whole.
