Purpose

The purpose of this guideline is to establish standardized procedures for Section Practices (SPs), including attendance requirements, approved make-up activities, and the structure of Frontline and Backline practices. This guideline is intended to ensure consistency, preparedness, and operational effectiveness across the Foxhole Area of Operations.

Scope

This guideline applies to all Troopers, Assistant Section Leaders, and Section Leaders assigned within the Foxhole Area of Operations.

Policy

Acceptable Section Practice Forms

Section Practices may be conducted in one of the following approved formats:

  • Individual scenarios or practice, including but not limited to:
    • Tapping a "relic".
    • Flanking enemy artillery.
    • Vehicular gameplay.
  • Team-fire tactics and scenarios against cadre or internal members on Able Shard.
    • Devbranch may be used when available.
  • Operations scheduled by section staff.
    • Operations must occur at the normal Section Practice time to ensure Trooper enrichment.
  • Individual scenarios regarding backline logistics, including but not limited to:
    • Setting up a resource field.
    • Factory tips and procedures.
    • Efficient logistics transportation.
    • Bunker base construction.

Public Logistics or Material Gathering

Public, unorganized logistics or material gathering may be used as a Section Practice no more than two (2) times per quarter, provided one or more of the following conditions are met:

  • Week 2 of the tech tree has been achieved.
  • An upcoming operation requires logistics.
  • Capital assets are actively being acquired.
  • The Monthly Training Plan includes public play during the respective week and contains at least one achievable training goal for the session.

Examples of acceptable training goals include:

  • Clear two salvage fields.
  • Clear one component or sulfur field.
  • Produce one full container of public items.

Public Unorganized Play

Public, unorganized play may be used as a Section Practice no more than two (2) times per quarter, provided all of the following conditions are met:

  • The shard is active and has at least a "High" population.
  • Troopers are present on the chosen shard before the Section Practice begins.
  • Troopers are organized on the respective front.
  • The Monthly Training Plan includes public play during the respective week and contains at least one achievable training goal for the session.

Examples of acceptable training goals include:

  • Destroy one bunker base.
  • Build a flanking encampment.
  • Conduct vehicular escort of a friendly capital asset.

Recap or Planning Meetings

A recap or planning meeting may be used as a Section Practice when directed by the Company Commander and when the following conditions are met:

  • The current war is in resistance mode.
  • The Company Commander determines that training is not required during resistance mode.

Section Practice Approval Requirements

Section Practices that deviate from the authorized formats, limitations, or conditions outlined above are not permitted unless prior approval is granted by Company Headquarters.

All Section Practices must follow the approved training plan.

All Section Practices must be reviewed by the corresponding platoon staff one (1) week before execution.

Approved Make-Up Activities

The following activities are approved as Section Practice make-ups:

  • Attending any official Foxhole Section Practice.
    • Troopers are encouraged to attend Section Practices within their own MOS first.
    • Troopers are encouraged to attend Section Practices within their own platoon second.
    • Any official Foxhole Section Practice is acceptable.
  • Attending any Platoon or Company FTX.
    • Platoon or Company FTX attendance will always count as a Section Practice.
  • Attending S7 classes.
    • S7 classes may count as a Section Practice make-up.
  • Conducting Public Play with a higher-level staff member present.
    • The activity must have at least one clear training goal.
    • Examples include:
      • Running escort in a fighter plane.
      • Conducting recon with a team member in a recon plane.
      • Vehicular combat.
      • Foot reconnaissance and distribution of intelligence through the Intel Discord channel.
  • Public Play make-ups require approval from platoon staff.
  • Pre-war or post-war meetings organized by Company or Battalion staff.

Make-Up Requirements

All Section Practice make-ups must meet the following requirements:

  • Make-ups must be conducted within seven (7) days of the missed Section Practice to be counted for that Cav week.
  • Make-ups must be at least one (1) hour in duration.
  • Make-ups must be verified by a leadership billet in attendance.
  • It is the Trooper's responsibility to meet minimum attendance requirements and locate an approved make-up opportunity.
  • It is not the responsibility of the Section Leader or Assistant Section Leader to provide a make-up, Make-up scheduling is at the discretion of Section Staff.
  • Make-ups conducted by the Section Leader or Assistant Section Leader will be at their discretion and based on their availability.

Approved Resource Gathering Make-Ups

Resource gathering may count as a make-up when conducted for at least one (1) hour and supported by clear proof, such as screenshots sent to the Section Leader or Assistant Section Leader.

Approved resource gathering standards are as follows:

  • Component Gathering:
    • 5,000 Components.
    • Equivalent to 250 Refined Materials.
    • Equivalent to 12 crates or 5,000 Components to the Blast Furnace.
  • Sulfur Gathering:
    • 5,000 Sulfur.
    • Equivalent to 1,000 HE Powder.
    • Equivalent to 33 crates or delivery into the Ammo Factory.
  • Salvage Gathering:
    • 25,000 Salvage.
    • Equivalent to 12,500 Basic Materials.
    • Equivalent to 125 crates using a standard refinery.

Unapproved Section Practice Make-Ups

The following activities are not approved as Section Practice make-ups:

  • Attending a Section Practice in another game.
  • Attending official Foxhole S3 Operations, including public operations, unless otherwise approved by the Company Commanding Officer.
    • This restriction is waived if the operation is planned and scheduled by the participating section staff during the normal Section Practice time.
  • Teaching an S7 class as a billeted S7 Instructor.
    • Billeted S7 Instructors cannot receive Section Practice make-up credit for teaching a class.
  • Casual Public Play for one (1) hour without section staff or higher-level staff present.

Section Practice Structure

All Section Practices are designed to be completed within one (1) hour of gameplay and are categorized as either Frontline or Backline practices.

Minimum Section Practice standards are as follows:

  • Briefing or classroom portion:
    • Five (5) to ten (10) minutes.
  • Practical portion:
    • Forty (40) to forty-five (45) minutes.
  • After Action Report, hotwash, or debrief:
    • Five (5) to ten (10) minutes.

Section Practices must begin on time. Best practice is for all participants and staff to be present at least thirty (30) minutes before the scheduled start time in order to load onto the server and prepare for training.

Exceptions

Unless otherwise stated in this guideline, exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by the respective Company staff or higher.

Exceptions must be approved before the Cav week of the missed Section Practice has concluded.

Any disputed make-up or request for clarification should be sent to Company Staff for review.

Make-Up Process

If a Trooper misses a Section Practice, the following process will be followed:

  1. The Trooper will inform their section staff through the forum direct message system.
  2. The Trooper will attempt to complete one of the approved Section Practice make-up activities listed in this guideline.
  3. Once completed, the Trooper will notify their Section Leader or Assistant Section Leader through the forum direct message system.
  4. The notification must include the make-up option completed or the Section Practice attended.
  5. If the Trooper is unable to complete an approved make-up, the Trooper is expected to submit a Leave of Absence.
  6. If the Trooper has already used a Leave of Absence for the month and cannot complete an approved make-up, the Trooper may request an exception from their Section Leader.
  7. If supported by the Section Leader, the exception request will be forwarded through the Chain of Command by forum private message to platoon staff.
  8. Platoon staff will forward the request to Company Staff for final approval before the end of the Cav week.

Company Staff and higher will monitor exception usage. If abuse of the system is identified, further counseling or disciplinary action may be taken.

Section Practice Time Change

A Section Practice time change may be requested by the respective Section Leader through platoon staff and requires Company approval.

A Section Practice time change may only be requested with valid justification. Requests without valid justification will be denied.

Time Change Requirements

In order to request a Section Practice time change, the following steps must be completed:

  1. The Section Leader must speak with every Trooper assigned to the section regarding the proposed new Section Practice time.
  2. The Section Leader must determine whether each Trooper is able to attend the proposed new time.
  3. At least sixty percent (60%) of assigned Troopers must agree to the proposed time change before the request may be submitted through platoon staff to Company Headquarters.
  4. If a Trooper is unable to attend the proposed new time, section and platoon staff must work with the Trooper to identify a fitting Section Practice time.
  5. If required, section and platoon staff will request or process the appropriate transfer.
  6. Before a Section Practice time change may be approved, all Troopers assigned to the section must either:
    1. Agree to the proposed Section Practice time; or
    2. Be transferred to a different section.

Enforcement

Failure to adhere to this guideline may result in counseling or disciplinary action.
