Introduction
Easy Company, 2nd Battalion was a sub-unit of the 7th Cavalry focused on Hell Let Loose (HLL). It was administratively known as E/2-7, the abbreviation used in MILPACs and on the Forums. At the time of its stand down, the Company comprised three platoons: 1st Platoon (Iron Crucible), consisting of mechanized infantry; 2nd Platoon (Brawlers), consisting of infantry and combat engineer squads; and 3rd Platoon (Iron Forge), consisting of Armor Crewmen. The Company was re-activated on 18 March 2024 due to the growth and expansion of 2nd Battalion and the HLL area of operations, and was stood down on 29 September 2026.
| Military Occupational Specialties | Description |
| Infantry Officer (11A) | The Infantry Officer was responsible for leading platoons within Easy Company and ensuring the readiness of troopers and crewmen. Troopers who served as Infantry Officers had priority for leadership positions in operations. |
| Armor Officer (19A) | The Armor Officer was responsible for leading armored platoons within the Company, ensuring the readiness of tank crews and maintaining the operational capability of armored crewmen. Troopers who served as Armor Officers had priority for leadership positions involving armored operations. |
| Infantry (11B) | The Infantry were experts in individual skill and teamwork coordination.
Through larger platoon actions, whether in defense or offense, the infantry squad utilized all member classifications to overwhelm the enemy and seize the objective. Members of the Infantry were masters of land warfare, communication, and tactical movement. In the Infantry, every member was a rifleman first and a specialist second. Each rifleman trained extensively on marksmanship, control over their weapon systems, and team battle drills. Troopers also trained in coordination with other support elements to improve the Company's combined arms operations. |
| Combat Engineer (12B) | Combat Engineers, also known as sappers, were specialized soldiers who provided engineering support on the battlefield. Their primary role was to ensure the mobility, survivability, and functionality of their own forces while impeding the movement and capabilities of the enemy. This included tasks such as constructing and maintaining field fortifications, laying or clearing mines, and demolishing obstacles -- including enemy mechanized assets. |
| Armor Crewman (19K) | Armor Crewmen worked as part of a team to operate tanks and assault vehicles and fire weapons to destroy enemy positions. Crewmen were expected to operate various armored chassis in all positions: Driver, Gunner, and Tank Commander (TC). The Driver was responsible for maneuvering the vehicle and operating the bow gun, if equipped. The Gunner was responsible for round selection and engagement of targets designated by the TC. The TC commanded the vehicle and was responsible for issuing orders to crewmen within the vehicle, prioritizing target assignments, coordinating with other units, and executing orders given by the Commander.
Armor served as a mobile support force capable of running operations on its own on a limited scale. It was primarily a support force working with infantry to take and hold key areas from the enemy, or to deny the enemy access to them, through combined arms warfare. Armor operated in close order with Infantry. |
