Section Opening & Closing Policy
The right to open or close sections remains with company staff. Platoon staff may request the opening or closing of a section through forum PM to company HQ. On a case by case basis the opening or closing of a section may be delegated to platoon staff.
The process to open or close a section is as following:
- Platoon staff submits an opening / closing request for the respective section to company HQ.
- Company gives the approval to initiate the process of opening or closing the requested section.
- For standing up a new section there needs to be an SL selected, the SP time included in the initial submission to company HQ, and a minimum of 5 troopers need to transfer into the new section
- For closing a section, all current troopers need to have found a fitting SP time for their schedule and will be transferred to their chosen section upon closing.
SL and ASL Appointment Policy
By default, the appointment of new Section Leader and Assistant Section Leaders is delegated to platoon leaders. Company staff reserves the right to deviate from this policy as Billet Selection authority as per SOP is the Company Commander. Company staff always reserves the right to review and veto.
Position openings for Assistant Section Leader shall be posted in the respective Position Opening area on the forums with at least 5 days application period. The opening needs to include at least the minimum requirement for applicants, the MOS and the contacts to address the letter of interest to.
If a Section Leader position becomes open and the respective section has a current serving Assistant Section Leader, platoon staff may offer the position of Section Leader to the currently serving ASL without an additional position opening.
The following application process shall be upheld for position openings:
- Trooper submit their Letter of interest within the application period to the respective staff
- Staff schedules interviews with every trooper who has submitted a letter of interest
- After interviews are concluded, the appointing staff shall contact every applicant and inform them of their decision. Applicants who did not get picked for a position shall get informed before announcing a new section staff assignment.
- Before posting the respective assignment, platoon staff has to send a forum PM to company staff informing them of all applicants and their choice who to appoint for the position. Only if 48 hours pass or company staff signs off on the appointment, platoon staff may post the assignment.
Roll Call Policy
In addition to Regimental SOP about the current weeks roll call, the roll call for the next, following Cav week needs to be posted No Later Than 24 hours within the end of the previous weeks Section Practice by the respective Section Leader or Assistant Section Leader.
i.e. Your SP is on Saturday as the first day of the new cav week. Then you have 24 hours after the end of your Section Practice to post your new roll call for the week starting the Saturday the week afterwards.
Officer OIC Responsibility
Every officer within 3rd Battalion is required to be Officer in Charge for at least one custom S3 PvE or PvP operation per quarter. Officers are responsible to report their accountability on OICing an operation to company staff. Company staff is responsible to report the accountability of OICing for officers in their scope to Battalion Staff for tracking.
Officers failing to fulfill their minimum OIC requirement per quarter are subject to counselling and disciplinary measures as deemed necessary by Battalion Staff.
Staff Meetings
Every level of the Chain of Command is responsible for hosting regular staff meetings within their scope of command in 3rd Battalion.
The following staff meetings are applicable:
- Battalion Staff Meetings are meetings for all of Battalion and Company staff within the battalion to discuss current topics and forward information up and down the chain of command. These meetings are mandatory for battalion and company staff and are usually held on a monthly basis.
- Company Staff Meetings are meetings for all of Company Staff and Platoon staff within the company to discuss current topics and forward information up and down the chain of command. These meetings are mandatory for company and platoon staff and are to be held at least on a bi weekly basis.
- Platoon Staff Meetings are meetings for all of Platoon Staff and Section Staff within the platoon to discuss current topics and forward information up and down the chain of command. These meetings are mandatory for platoon and section staff and are to be held on a weekly basis.
The time and day of the meetings are determined by announcement and decided by the respective command authority (Platoon Leader, Company Commander, Battalion Commander). Each meeting shall have notes taken for future review and saved in the respective units HQ folders in the Google Drive.
Zeus Scenario Naming Convention
All Zeus scenarios on either of the training servers shall be created with the following naming convention: UNIT TYPE DATE
- Unit = The units abbreviation using this scenario. I.e. 1/2/C/ACD
- Type = What is the type of this scenario? I.e. SP, FTX etc.
- Date = The date on which this scenario will be used in standard cav format, i.e. 01 SEP 2025
