S7 Training - Standard Operating Procedures
Each Training School is responsible for the following SOP's:
Course Scheduling
- Unless otherwise approved by S7 HQ, each course is run at least once a month at a time that works for both NA and EU time zones. If this is not possible, a second running of the course should be done to ensure that at least once per month each course is run for each continent. More advanced courses can be run less frequently on an approved basis as demand requires.
- Courses must be posted at least 1 week (7 days) prior to the run date to allow troopers reasonable time to sign up
- ALL courses must be added as events to the Regimental Calendar application on our website per S7 Department - Class Posting
- After a class is run, instructors are responsible to un-stick the class announcement post
Course Development & Updates
New Courses
- New courses require a Proposal Form and Course Outline to be sent to the Lead Instructor and then must be sent up the S7 CoC to S7 HQ for approval
- Upon approval by S7 HQ, the proposal will be sent to the Aide to CSM who will then review and distribute the material to the Company/Battalion Staff of the affected MOS for review and approval. The intent is each Company/Battalion/MOS should have some buy-in and be able to provide some feedback on how the class can best serve their unit
- After approval is granted by Company/Battalion Staff, the unformatted lesson plan and field manual drafts must be developed and once ready, sent up the S7 CoC to S7 HQ for final approval and formatting
- After approval is granted by S7 HQ, a demo course must be run and observed by the S7 HQ in order to receive final approval for the school to consistently run the class going forward
- Demo classes can be run as the first class that includes a normal class posting and regular student participation that counts for class credit
- The intention is that the course developers/instructors, Lead Instructor, and/or S7 HQ can do a final audit together of the demo course and make any final lesson plan or map adjustments as necessary
Existing Courses
- If existing courses require an update, updates need to be handled on a case-by-case basis. The intention is that minor lesson plan or map updates can be approved by Lead Instructors. Larger lesson plan content changes/overhauls are sent up the S7 CoC to S7 HQ for final approval.
- Lead Instructors must ensure Lesson Plans, Manuals, and maps (if applicable) are kept up-to-date and the most current versions are available in each School's respective Google Drive folders
Tracking
- All classes and instructor accountability data should be tracked based upon the information provided on all S7 Graduation posts and recorded on the S7 Master Tracker and each school's own individual tracker, which is maintained by the appropriate Lead Instructor, S7 HQ, or its designates
- Each school will maintain a list of instructors who are qualified to teach each class within the school on the S7 forums and be maintained by the Lead Instructor
Instructor Minimum Requirements
- Instructors in any course should have the course qualification prior to attending as an assistant instructor. For new courses, the course developers will run the course for the first few runs.
- Instructors must hold the rank of Private First Class (E-3) or above and must have no negative action pending or active
- Instructors are required to assist or instruct a course at least once monthly. Instructors who fail to meet this minimum requirement will receive a Developmental Counseling Statement (DCS). Subsequent failures to meet the minimum requirement will result in removal from the department.
- Previous Instructors that were out of the S7 Department longer than 6 months have to do a refresher on all courses the school offers in the form of one assist before they can teach courses on their own again
Instructor Requirements
Instructors must go through the following process to be considered qualified to run a class:
- Attended and graduate the course first as a student
- Attend 1 run-through of the course as an assistant
- Lead instruct the course at least once under the supervision of a qualified instructor for that specific course
Arma 2 Class Equivalencies
- Soldiers who have successfully completed an Arma 2 class are not required to re-do the class in Arma 3. Students are able to sign up and participate in the course however, and will receive credit as a new MILPACS entry.

- Recruits are permitted to attend any S7 Classes if they have successfully completed Basic Combat Training (bootcamp). S7 Instructors may ask a recruit if they are unsure of their status, or discuss with Recruit Training Command personnel.
Staff taking ELOA
- When an instructor goes on ELOA, they are automatically removed from the department. If they wish to rejoin the department, they must submit a new PAF department application.
