Introduction
The Wiki Administration Group (WAG) is a support department of the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment. It is responsible for updating all pages contained in the Regimental Wiki. These pages are the most concrete forms of information available to members of the 7th Cavalry, and consists of all policies and procedures. The Wiki Administration Group updates, creates, deletes, and amends pages when necessary. The Wiki Administration Group is not responsible for the creation of SOP/Policy outside of its own scope. For this reason the department works with all other departments to make sure that they have access to the right information, for the right people, at the right time.
Operations
The WAG Department primarily resolves issues through the ticket system. All members are permitted to submit tickets to the WAG Helpdesk. In this ticket system, users can report problems, submit new material, or request edits to existing pages.
Tracking
All tickets are processed by Wiki Editors and are marked "Resolved" if successfully completed, or "Closed" if the ticket is closed by the submitter or no longer required. All tickets are tracked by the WAG Lead for statistical and progress tracking purposes.
Traditions and History
The Wiki Admin Group can be traced back as early as 2016, and has since undergone many changes of command and direction. Prevously, it was headed by Major Czar.J of E/2-7. Having joined the Wiki Admin Group on May 19, 2018, the Wiki has undergone some serious renovations since Major Czar joined the department. Major Czar is also responsible for the inception of the 7th Cavalry Memorial Center, however Czar would leave the 7th Cavalry before his project came to fruition. In March, 2021 Staff Sergeant Dammond Richards took charge of the department and would spearhead the creation and implementation of the Regimental Historical Memorial Project, in which previous commanders of S shops, Company, Battalion, and Regimental staff are catalogued in their respective wiki pages. Presently, the Wiki Admin Group is commanded by Chief Warrant Officer 4 Gregory Vercin, formerly of A/1-7. Currently, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Gregory Vercin pursues the completion of Major Czar's 7th Cavalry Memorial Center and 7th Cavalry Memorial Archive in addition to the creation of the auditor sub-department of the Wiki Admin Group.
Regimental Historical Memory Project
The Regimental Historical Memory Project was launched in May, 2020. The stated goal of the project was to record all previous commanders across the Regiment. Currently the project has recorded the history of Commanders at the Regimental, Battalion, and Sub-Unit levels.
Distinguished Wiki Editors
The first distinguished Editor was Sergeant First Class Dammond Richards. SFC Richards was awarded the Legion of Merit on June 20th, 2020 for exceptional performance as a member of the Administration Team, specifically for processing a large number of Wiki assistance tickets, and spearheading the Regimental Historical Memory Project. SFC Richards retired from the 7th Cavalry Regiment on June 13th, 2021 after over 10 years of service.
