Introduction

The following is a list of responsibilities and roles for all positions within the S7 Department, and for the Staff and Instructors of all Schools. This is a general guideline as additional duties may be required. All S7 members should also be given an ICS (Initial Counseling Statement) upon entry into the department or new leadership positions that further clarify expectations for their position.

Roles and Responsibilities

Each role has defined list of duties and authority. The highest authority in the S7 Branch is the S7, the Staff-Principal. This Officer is responsible to advise the commander on all matters pertaining to operations and training, and to exercise control of all training institutions. The S7 Training Branch reports to the S7, the Executive Officer and the S7 Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC).

Training Lead

The S7 Training Lead is in charge of all aspects of training, supervises each school under their command, and reports to the S7 Command Staff. There is a Training Lead assigned to each Battalion's area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

Responsibility Description
School Lead Supervision The S7 Training Lead holds each School Lead accountable for their specific school and the instructors under them. They ensure that each School Lead keeps track of their instructors via school trackers (spreadsheets). The Training Lead also ensures that courses are being run consistently within each school and instructor accountability is tracked and enforced. They also assist in the hiring and conduct an Initial Counselling Statement (ICS) for any School Lead positions that become filled.
Training Supervision The S7 Training Lead ensures that all courses are being run on a regular or as needed basis at times that work for both North American and European Union members. The S7 Training Lead also ensures that each school has sufficient instructors to teach all assigned courses. If there are empty positions, the Lead assigns new instructors or delegates this duty to each School Lead.
Course Development The S7 Training lead monitors and supervises course development within each school. They provide feedback and ensure the proper class development cycles are being followed by course authors, developers, and School Leads. They also ensure that when new courses are run as a demonstration that appropriate S7 personnel are present to observe the course. This includes the S7 Training Lead, and appropriate S7 Branch staff.
Reports and Returns The S7 Training lead will keep the S7 informed about any relevant or series issues, class development, and actions being taken to improve or modify courses. All classes and instructor accountability data will be tracked and the information provided on all S7 Graduation posts recorded on the S7 Master Tracker. Each School will also maintain their own tracker, and the School Lead is responsible unless this responsibility is delegated.

Responsibilities

Responsibility Description
Course Development As required, new courses will be developed to provide the necessary training to troopers and leaders in their respective games. New courses require a one-page proposal to be sent to the appropriate S7 Training Lead and the S7 for review. Upon receiving preliminary approval, the proposal should then be distributed to the appropriate Sub-Unit for discussion. When approval is received, the lesson plan and field manual must be developed and then go through the same approval process as with the proposal. When approval is received, a demonstration course must be run and observed by the School Lead, the appropriate S7 Training Lead, and/or the S7 for final approval.

Course Scheduling Each course in a School must be run at least once monthly at a time that works for both North American and European time zones, unless otherwise approved by S7 Command Staff. If this isn't possible, a second serial of the course should be done to ensure that at least once per month each course is run for the two major time-zones. The School Lead should audit at least once course per month to ensure quality of instruction. Courses must be posted at least 1 week prior to the run date to allow for adequate signups. The School Lead should track the number of courses run and number of students who attended monthly.
Instructor Supervision The School Lead must actively work to ensure that an adequate number of instructors are available to run the school's courses. The School Lead must ensure that instructors schedule courses as required, run the courses to a high standard and meet the minimum attendance requirement of assisting or leading a course of instruction at least once per month. The School Lead must counsel instructors who fail to meet these minimum standards or who no-show to courses they have committed to instructing.
Instructor Training The School Lead is responsible for supervising assistant instructors and training lead instructors for courses within their school. This includes teaching new Instructors on how to use lesson plans, the Google drive, surveys, the course mission file (if applicable), and posting courses and graduations. The School Lead must also keep an active list of active lead instructors to display who is fully qualified to teach each course.
