Due to recent events/actions of former members who retired in good standing, we've been forced to take a hard look at how we view Retirement from the 7th Cavalry. In sitting down to examine retirement policies, we realized that things we took for granted, were not really codified anywhere.

We have always wanted to recognize members who have served a significant time, while exhibiting good character, and commitment to the community. Retirement from this community, is one of the way we show that appreciation. The Wall of Honor is another.

We've talked about this in great length over the past month as the Regimental Staff, and we will move forward with the following guidance regarding Retirement.

Retirement signals a continued commitment to the 7th Cavalry Regiment, it's brotherhood, and community. It is awarded to those who want to maintain that relationship, after serving with distinction but for whatever cause are not able to maintain an active relationship. ( Perhaps they have moved off of gaming, or are starting a new chapter in life like parenthood )

In pursuit of this understanding of the intent of Retirement, it is expected that non active duty members will retain and wear their tags. Members who join other units and drop the 7CAV tags will no longer be retained on retired status.

There is no benefit to the regiment to tag swapping.

Please note: We understand just like with our policies about "dual clanning" that our members enjoy a wide variety of gaming and in regards to MMOs these games require other players to fully experience. This is not directed at those pursuits.

We will be transferring Retired members who have joined other FPS gaming groups to an Honorable Discharge status over the coming days/ weeks. This is not in any way meant to diminish their accomplishments as part of this great community and their place in it's history.

This does not impact Wall of Honor placement or any regalia earned. Members who are assigned the Wall of Honor will stay on the wall, but their discharge will be converted.

This does not impact in anyway a members eligibility to return to the Regiment.

We will however reduce access to private TS areas and forum permissions for these members in line with a normal discharge.

With regards to Wall of Honor recipients, special consideration may be made to retain TS access, and requests should be submitted to the Chief of Staff for review.

Any questions should be sent via private forum message to me.

Regards,

the COS
