Introduction

This policy will serve as the official Auxiliary Combat Detachment Section Practice Makeup Policy. We cannot run section practices effectively if people do not show up. We cannot plan good practices if we cannot rely on having the entire section there at practice. If we do not run section practices, we do not get better at the game. If we do not get better at the game, we do not do well in operations, and we do not have a good time. As a result, section practice is the most important activity of the week for troopers. It is a waste of the SLs time if people are not showing up to their SPs and it undermines our goals to grow together as a company. Even if you are not interested in competitive play, running with your squad regularly helps with communications. This in turn allows you to become better at the game since you are better able to work together, maximizing your own efficiency.

Acceptable SP Makeups

When a trooper is unable to attend their own official section practice, they can conduct a section practice makeup through one of the following ways to still be accounted for that Cav week:

  • Attending any official section practice
    • Troopers are encouraged to attend the SP's within their own Platoon first, followed by their own Company second.
    • ACD Section Practice times can be found here (Link to ACD SP times)
  • Spending an hour training with a Section Leader or ASL billeted leader, or any higher leadership position in the trooper's Company.
  • Attending any Platoon or Company FTX for their own Platoon/Company will always count as SP.
  • S7 classes can count as an SP makeup if the class contains in-game content and/or as determined by Company and Battalion Staff.
  • Any makeups must be conducted within the same Cav week (Saturday to Friday) as the missed SP in order to be considered accounted for that Cav week.
    • Makeups must last at least 1 hour.
    • Makeups must be verified by a leadership billet in attendance.
    • Per 7CAV-R-030, it is the trooper's responsibility for meeting minimum requirements and finding a makeup.
    • It is not your SL or ASL's responsibility to provide you a makeup and will be conducted at the SL/ASL's discretion and as their schedules allow.

Unacceptable SP Makeups

The following, DO NOT count towards a section practice makeup:

  • Attending a section practice in another game.
  • Attending any other Platoon or Company FTX outside of your own Company.
  • Attending official S3 Operations, including public operations, unless otherwise approved by the Company Commanding Officer.
    • Squad Leaders can request that an op count as SP for an entire section if at least 75% of the section attends said op and it is communicated and approved by Platoon Staff with final approval coming from Company Staff at least 48 hours in advance before the op takes place. Otherwise, Monthly Training Plans should always be followed and executed for that week's SP.
  • Billeted S7 Instructors cannot receive SP makeup credit for teaching a class
  • Playing on a server for an hour without supervision. There must be a billeted leader from your Company or CoC in attendance who can vouch for your makeup. The intent is to still receive some relevant training for your Section during the makeup.

Exceptions

  • Unless otherwise stated above, exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by Company Staff. Company Staff and up are permitted to use their best judgment and use their command discretion to allow ONE of the above conditions to count towards a makeup SP per trooper per month. However, these are only allowed in extenuating circumstances and should be rare. Any makeup disputes or clarification should be sent to the Company Commanding Officer for review.
  • If a trooper shows up on time but for some valid reason cannot get into the server, or has a real-life event that prevents him from finishing the hour requirement. The SL may decide to make an exemption for the trooper. This should also be very rare, and they must notify Platoon staff when this happens. Platoon staff will ensure this is not abused.
  • Please not that if a special exception is to be made, a Developmental Counseling Statement must be issued as a record of the exception.

Process for Makeups

The process to make up a practice is as follows:

  • If you miss an SP, you are to attempt a legitimate makeup listed above.
  • You are then to notify your SL/ASL via forum PM that you completed a makeup with the element lead that ran the SP included on the same PM for verification.
  • If you are not able to do any of those, then you are to take an LOA per 7CAV-R-003.
  • If you have already taken an LOA for the month and you cannot do any of the qualifying makeup SP's, then you are allowed to ask for an exception from your SL to what counts as a makeup. Approval should then be sent up to CoC by forum PM to Platoon Staff and then forwarded to Company Staff for final approval before the end of that Cav week.

Conclusion

Platoon and Company Staff together will monitor these exceptions, and if it appears anyone is abusing the system, further counseling or disciplinary action may be taken.
