Please be aware of the procedure for statutory medal recommendations. There are currently two statutory medal awards for operations that the OIC is responsible for recommending; the Combat Medic Badge and Combat Jump Stars.

Please note: As of June 1st, 2018, we are awarding up to a maximum of 5 jump stars for combat jumps. We will not retroactively be awarding additional stars prior to June 1st, 2018. If you have any questions, please contact me directly. ALL THE WAY!

Combat Medic Badges

The OIC of an operation must check the MILPAC of those who were assigned as combat medics, either in a mobile medical team or platoon medic position to determine if they are eligible for the Combat Medic Badge. To be eligible, they must have completed the Combat Medic Course after May, 2016 and must have the Expert Field Medic Badge.

Combat Jump Stars

The OIC of an airborne operation is responsible for checking each person who attended the operation and compiling a medal recommendation that lists out who was eligible for a 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st star. That is then posted by the OIC as a medal rec. Only people who were jump qualified prior to the operation are eligible for Combat Jump Stars.

The delegated approval authority then reviews and approves the rec and then S1 posts it as a medal award. Uniforms can then update the uniforms, and the designated person/people in the S1 department add the jump to the milpacs record of each of the recipients.
