Introduction

In accordance with 7CAV-BATT1-005, a Sub-unit level Field Training Exercise (FTX) is to be conducted once every 2 months. During "off" months when an FTX is not conducted, each Platoon will conduct their own FTX.

Troop Level FTX Months

During these months, a Trp FTX will occur created and run by Trp HQ. This FTX will count as operation credit for all atendees. The training goals of each month for each platoon will be guided by the direction of overarching topic and theme provided by Troop staff. This direction will be issued halfway into the previous month to allow for time for Platoon training plans to be generated.

Platoon Level FTX Months

During these months, known as "off" months, training will be conducted by Platoon Staff. The FTX should focus on the training topic that was chosen in the Platoon Training Plan, and can be pre-designed or generated with live tools such as the MCC framework.

Platoon FTXs do not count as operation credit.

Other Criteria

Training plans are primarily drafted by the NCO Leadership at every level. Training plans must provide direction and guidance from which NCO's may draw information quickly to incorporate into their training.

Training plans should include:

  • A mix in scope
  • Individual aspects of a topic
  • Squad/Section aspects of a topic
  • Platoon level topics
  • A mix of easily identifiable and navigable resources to create a Section/Squad Practice
