Introduction

This policy will provide a clear understanding on how to obtain the Military Service Medal and/or the Military Campaign Medals.

Process

If you are serving or have served in your country's armed forces and believe you are eligible for one or more of the following medals, please send a copy of your DD-214 (or equivalent discharge/service record) to the Regimental Commander or in in his absence the Regimental Executive Officer. You only have to send your documents to a single person. Please be sure to black out any sensitive information such as Social Security Numbers and any other non-pertinent information. Any documentation you provide to us will not be kept, collected or stored on any 7th Cavalry system.

Members may also use the Service members Civil Relief Act Website for verification if they do not have a DD-214 to submit.

For non-US personnel, please submit equivalent documentation needed for verification.

Criteria for Awards

Below is the criteria for the range of medals awarded for real life service to their respective nation's military.

Medal Name Image Description
The National Defense Service Medal Awarded to members of the 7th Cavalry who have honorably served their country's armed forces.
The Iraq Campaign Medal​ Awarded to any member of the military who performed duty in a deployed status within the borders of Iraq for a period of thirty consecutive days or sixty non-consecutive days during the Iraq War.
The Afghanistan Campaign Medal​ Awarded to any member of the military who performed duty in a deployed status within the borders of Afghanistan for a period of thirty consecutive days or sixty non-consecutive days during Operation Enduring Freedom (or equivalent ISAF/national mission)
The Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal​ Awarded to any member of the military who performed duty in a deployed status in direct support of the War on Terror for a period of thirty consecutive days or sixty non-consecutive days.

Conclusion

The Regimental Commanding Officer reserves the right to make exceptions to this policy when deemed in the best interest of the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment.
