ALCON,
Effective with this posting the following changes will go into effect.
- The Womens' Army Corp Service medal will no longer be issued
Immediate Impact
- Members who already have this award will retain it on their MILPACS
- Members who have this award and would like to have it removed, can submit an S1 ticket. Note, S1 will not make any change to remove the medal from a service record without end-user request via Ticket system.
Future Considerations
- Impact should be minor in terms of ongoing activities.
- S1 may see some ( minor ) additional work, if any recipients of the award request to have it removed ( only via the ticket system ).
Background
- This is a result of the debate / discussion earlier this year regarding this medal, its origins, and suitability for inclusion in the Cavalry.
- The cause for origin of the medal, which hasn't been issued by the Army since 1945, is obsolete as the Army is no longer segregated by gender.
Regards, Chief of Staff
