Role of Battalion Staff

The role of the Battalion Staff is to execute the vision of the Regiment respective to the Military Occupation Specialties assigned to the Battalion. The Battalion Staff is comprised of the following:

  • Battalion Commander
  • Battalion Executive Officer
  • Battalion Sergeant Major

Responsibilities

The following is a list of basic responsibilities. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, merely the basis with which to begin.

  • Responsible for the ongoing health and morale of the Battalion in all respects.
  • Hold all Staff and troopers within the Battalion accountable.
  • Be available to the troopers of the Battalion at all times when online.
  • Admin game servers as required.
  • Perform administrative duties associated with the Battalion (e.g. reports, discipline).
  • Train and directly supervise Company Staff.
  • Other duties as required.

Battalion Commanding Officer and Executive Officer Duties

Daily Duties (When Online)

  • Take Care of Troopers - When on Discord or Teamspeak be available for your troopers. Be prompt when responding to requests for assistance over Discord, Teamspeak, or the forums.
  • Make an effort to meet with members of Company Staff for the purpose of:
    • Developing working relationships with Staff
    • Identifying key problems and answering questions
    • Supporting Company Staff
  • Spend time with troopers and leadership within your Battalion.
  • Administrative tasks — Ensure transfers, AWOLs, PAF Logs and discharges happen in a timely manner, and monitor them for any changes to the Battalion unit strength.
  • Counselling - Issue appropriate counselling measures as required to ensure understanding and compliance with all rules, regulations, and minimum expectations.
  • Promotions — Follow Regimental SOP in regards to promotion recommendations passed up from within the Battalion. Perform spot checks to ensure no one who meets promotions requirements has been overlooked.
  • Serve as part of the Battalion Staff team to work together, divide duties, responsibilities, and other tasks appropriately, and ensure the wellbeing and success of the Battalion.
  • Ensure information is passed up and down the Chaim of Command in a timely manner.

Weekly Duties

  • Accountability — Ensure you are attending at least one Section Practice, operation, class, or other official event once a week within the Battalion.
  • Report Follow up — Follow up with Company Staff weekly reports. Coach and counsel as required to ensure all Staff turn them in on time. Work with Company Staff to resolve any issues that arise during the week. Ensure Counseling Statements and other documents are being processed as required.
  • Staff Accountability — Audit and enforce all reporting and roll call deadlines by all Staff throughout the Battalion. Coach and counsel as required.
  • Assign New Troopers - Work with RTC to process new graduates. Assign Company Staff to contact troopers on their behalf to get them assigned to their respective Company.
  • AWOL List & Discharges - Ensure the AWOL process is being conducted by the NCO chain throughout the Battalion and assist as required.
  • Recruiting - Spend at least one hour per week on the public server.

Monthly Duties

  • Battalion Growth - Focus efforts on growth of the Battalion. This can be through organizing and encouraging Battalion recruiting competitions, events on the public servers, as well as leading by example when it comes to playing and recruiting on the public servers.
  • Leadership Development - Spend time with a different Company Officer on a monthly basis and spend time with them ensuring they understand our vision and their part in it. Support them as required.
  • Training and FTX’s - Oversee and set training goals for the Battalion or delegate to Company Staff. Oversee Company FTX’s and hold Company Staff accountable.
  • "Of the Quarter" - Evaluate recommendations for Trooper, NCO, and Officer “Of the Quarter” awards each quarter and complete and submit the entire medal package recommendation per SOP.
  • Meetings - Attend the Command Staff Call meetings and any Regimental meetings.

Battalion Sergeant Major Duties

Daily Duties (When Online)

Additional Duties/Notes

  • As a leader of the NCO chain, it is strongly recommended that the Battalion Sergeant Major should be part of the Non-Commisioned Officer Academy as an instructor and be able to instruct both Phase One and Phase Two of the syllabus.
