Mission
Starter Platoon’s mission is to provide an environment for members to grow new AOs into full-sized Companies. Starter Platoon is a sub-unit level organization of DEVCOM, 7th Cavalry Regiment. It is administratively known as D/DEVCOM; this abbreviation is used in MILPACS and for all official Ops and documentation. Currently, the Starter Platoon supports Star Citizen (SC) and Foxhole (FOX).
Tradition & History
Starter Platoons have existed in some form since the start of the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment. It started in 1-7 roughly between the years of 2011-2019, before 2-7 would be stood up for the second time. Starters would mainly find a home in 2-7 from 2019 to the tail end of 2021 when ACD would be stood up. They would then fall under the ACD umbrella until the start-up of DEVCOM, which formally separated the starters from the Detachment. D/DEVCOM comes from repurposing the deactivated D/ACD on the forum and associated media, such as Discord.

History
While this list can get quite confusing, it is important to know that prior to the start-up of ACD, starter platoons usually existed in the Echo or Foxtrot Companies of 1st or 2nd Battalion. 1st Battalion would become ARMA exclusive in mid-2019, and 2nd Battalion would become HLL exclusive with the standing down of Squad(the Second time) in early 2021.
After ACD would be stood up, there would be a lot of duplicate naming conventions. For example, Escape From Tarkov would be listed as EFT/ACD, EFT/SP, and A/ACD.
Graduated Starter Platoons
This list will guide you through all Starter Platoons that met the requirements for graduation.
Squad, designated multiple units (including E/1-7, B/2-7, E/2-7, and finally C/ACD) before graduating to the 3-7 Battalion, was a starter platoon over three separate times over the course of 10 years. It was formally stood up as a battalion on June 14th,2025.
Hell Let Loose, designated as C/2-7 as a Starter Platoon before branching out to the rest of the Active 2-7 Companies (A/2-7, B/2-7, E/2-7) and becoming the Flagship title of the 7th Cavalry.
Digital Combat Simulator, designated A/ACD as a Starter Platoon, would be stood up as the 3-7 Battalion from April 1st, 2024, to January 7th 2025.
Battlefield 6, designated 3/D/DEVCOM, led by 1LT Marcel Laui was stood up to C/ACD on 31JAN26
Foxhole, designated 4/D/DEVCOM (and later 3/D/DEVCOM and 4/D/DEVCOM under D/DEVCOM HQ), led by SGT Ryder Leifried, was stood up to D/ACD on 22MAY26
