Mission

A/3-7 is a combined arms company specializing in armored and mechanized infantry operations. The unit’s mission is to conduct rapid and decisive maneuver warfare through the effective integration of main battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles. A/3-7 maintains rigorous training standards and emphasizes strong team cohesion to ensure adaptability across varied terrain and mission profiles. The company achieves battlefield superiority through a balance of mobility, firepower, and operational flexibility. A/3-7 vision is to be the premier armored and mechanized force within the 7th Cavalry Regiment, recognized for tactical excellence, disciplined execution, and a relentless commitment to team development and mission success. A/3-7 strives to set the standard for combined arms operations through innovation, precision, and professionalism.

Traditions and History

Traditions

The practice of naming armored vehicles is a long-standing tradition within armor and cavalry units across the globe, particularly in the United States Army. Originating in World War II and continuing through modern conflicts, tank and cavalry crews have historically given their vehicles personalized names to foster identity, morale, and camaraderie. These names often reflect unit pride, historical references, humor, personal significance, or thematic cohesion within a platoon or company. Vehicle names serve not only as a morale booster but also as a point of tactical clarity and unit cohesion. On the battlefield and in training, the ability to refer to a vehicle by name enhances communication and builds esprit de corps among crew members who come to see their vehicle as both a weapon system and a trusted member of the team. A/3-7 proudly upholds this tradition within the 7th Cavalry Regiment’s virtual operations in Squad. Each vehicle, whether a main battle tank or infantry fighting vehicle; is named by its crew, often following naming conventions that reflect the company’s identity, history, or internal themes. These names are used in both operational planning and in-game communication, reinforcing the bond between crew members and instilling a deeper sense of ownership and responsibility for their equipment. Naming conventions within A/3-7 are also used to promote cohesion at the platoon level, with groups of vehicles sometimes adopting thematic sets (e.g., mythological figures, animals, historical armor divisions) to strengthen identity and foster unit pride. This attention to tradition, even in a virtual combat environment, speaks to A/3-7’s commitment to professionalism, authenticity, and the enduring legacy of armored warfare.

History

A/3-7, known at the time as CVW-12, was stood up on April 1st 2024 after the successful creation of 3-7. Prior to the creation of 3rd Battalion, CVW-12 was known as 1/A/ACD, and was a platoon in Alpha Company ACD. Alpha Company ACD was stood up on May 29, 2022 for the DCS group. A/3-7 served as the home for the DCS AO until it was stood down on 07 Jan 2025 and DCS returned to A/ACD.

Argali (arr-gah-lee) Company (A/3-7) was officially reactivated on June 14, 2025, as part of the 3rd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment within the Squad tactical gaming community. Initially designated as 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, Auxiliary Combat Detachment (1/C/ACD), 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment was the first platoon formed under Charlie Company and was originally composed exclusively of infantry personnel. As the unit experienced rapid growth, its structure was expanded to include two additional platoons. The original 1st Platoon transitioned into a specialized armored and mechanized infantry element to meet evolving operational demands. Upon reorganization at the battalion level, the platoon retained its mechanized identity and was formally re-designated as Argali Company, A/3-7, establishing its place as a core component of the regiment's armored capabilities.

Roles

Military Occupational Specialties Description
Armor Officer (19A) Armor Officers lead tank and cavalry units in combat, specializing in maneuver warfare, reconnaissance, and direct fire missions. They plan and execute operations using armored vehicles, working with other combat arms to achieve mission objectives in dynamic environments.
Armored Cavalry Trooper (19D) The 19D Armored Cavalry MOS represents the reconnaissance and security element of 3rd Battalion. Armored Cavalry troopers operate a mix of lightly armored vehicles and IFVs, balancing mobility, firepower, and survivability to perform screening, scouting, and rapid response missions. Within the Squad AO, 19Ds are tasked with locating and tracking enemy forces, providing early warning, and enabling maneuver elements to engage from a position of advantage.
Mechanized Infantryman (19M) Mechanized Infantry are ground combat forces equipped with armored fighting vehicles such as IFVs and APCs, combining the mobility, protection, and firepower of armor with the flexibility of dismounted infantry. Trained for both mounted and dismounted operations, they can rapidly maneuver across diverse combat environments while engaging in close combat when necessary. Their vehicles provide protection from small arms and shrapnel, advanced communication systems, and direct fire support, enabling them to operate as part of combined arms formations alongside armor, artillery, and aviation in both offensive and defensive operations.
Armor Crewmember (19K) Armor crewmen operate and maintain the Army's main battle tanks, such as the M1 Abrams, to provide direct firepower, shock action, and battlefield dominance in support of maneuver operations. They are trained to operate the tank’s advanced weapon systems, communications, and targeting equipment while executing offensive, defensive, and security missions. Armor crewmen work as part of a four-person crew — consisting of a commander, gunner, loader, and driver — to ensure the tank’s maximum effectiveness in combat. In addition to combat roles, they conduct vehicle maintenance, recovery operations, and sustainment tasks to keep the tank fully mission capable. Integrated into combined arms teams, armor crewmen coordinate with infantry, artillery, engineers, and aviation to achieve decisive battlefield effects.
