Introduction

This policy will serve as the official 3-7 Battalion Section Practice Policy. It supersedes any Company policies and cannot be edited or circumvented without Battalion Commanding Officer approval.

The Section Practice Policy of 3rd Battalion exists to ensure that every trooper meets the operational standards expected within the 7th Cavalry Gaming Regiment. Battalion HQ expects all section practices to be conducted with the highest level of discipline, tactical relevance, and leadership involvement. These practices are not only the cornerstone of individual and team readiness, but they also represent the primary mandatory commitment for all active troopers. Their consistent execution is vital to maintaining combat effectiveness, fostering unit cohesion, and upholding the professional reputation of 3rd Battalion across the Regiment.

Minimum SP Standards

The following standards apply to all Section Practices within 3rd Battalion and have to be adhered to by all responsible staff.

Each Section Practice shall consist of:

• A briefing / classroom portion lasting 5-10 minutes
• A practical portion lasting 40-45 minutes
• An After Action Report (AAR / Hotwash) lasting 5-10 minutes

Section practices have to start on time. Best practice is to be present at least 10 minutes early before the practice to load onto the server and get ready for training. In the briefing or class room portion Section staff should prepare a short presentation or in game briefing to inform the troopers about the goals and setting of the practice and teach them on drills and procedures.

In case of Zeus usage, the in-game Scenario needs to be prepared at least a day before the SP and uploaded to the respective training server. Any additional mods needed, need to be requested through platoon and company staff and put on the respective training server.

Acceptable SP Forms

It is up to Company and Platoon staff to include the format and type of SPs into their Monthly or Quarterly Training Plans. By default, Section Practices are PvE or PvP Trainings internally on one of the 7th Cavalry Squad Servers with the use of Zeus Bots or cadre.

The following forms and types of play are acceptable types of Section Practice:

• Individual Scenarios / Practice on a 7th Cavalry Server
• Squad Fire Team Mode Missions if at least 2 training goals are set for the SP to achieve during the Mission
• Public Play on external servers up to a maximum of 2 times per quarter under the following conditions
  • The server is close to (50+) going Live or Live already
  • Troopers are present on the chosen server before the SP starts and organized in the respective Squad
  • The Monthly Training Plan includes public play in the respective week, with at least 2 achievable training goals for the play session (i.e. destroy one HAB, build a flanking HAB, Air Assault an OBJ, etc.)
  • The regular SP standards apply as mentioned above. During the AAR a review on achieving the set training goals should be conducted.

Section Practices that deviate from the authorized formats, limitations, or conditions outlined above are not permitted unless prior approval is granted by Battalion Headquarters

Acceptable SP Makeups

When a trooper is unable to attend their own official section practice, they can conduct a section practice makeup through one of the following ways to still be accounted for that Cav week:

• Attending any official Squad section practice
  • Troopers are encouraged to attend the SP's within their own Platoon first, followed by their own Company second, but any official Squad section practice is acceptable
  • 3-7 SP times can be found here
• Attending any Platoon or Company FTX for their own MOS/Platoon/Company will always count as SP per 7CAV-BATT3-005
• Attending a Platoon or Company FTX outside of their own Platoon/Company can be counted as makeup upon Company Commanders discretion.
• S7 classes can count as an SP makeup if the class directly pertains to the trooper's MOS as determined by Company and Battalion Staff
• Conducting Public Play together with a member from section or higher level staff present with at least one clear training goal to achieve. (i.e. perform Buddy team bounding successfully 3 times, etc.)
  • Conducting Public Play as Makeup requires Approval of the Company Commanding Officer. Approval authority may be delegated to Platoon Leaders by the Company CO through standing order.
• Any makeups must be conducted within 7 days of the missed SP in order to be considered accounted for that Cav week
  • Makeups must last at least 1 hour
  • Makeups must be verified by a leadership billet in attendance
  • Per 7CAV-R-012, it is the trooper's responsibility for meeting minimum requirements and finding a makeup
  • It is not your SL or ASL's responsibility to provide you a makeup and will be conducted at the SL/ASL's discretion and as their schedules allow

Unacceptable SP Makeups

The following, DO NOT count towards a section practice makeup:

• Attending a section practice in another game
• Attending official Squad S3 Operations, including public operations, unless otherwise approved by the Battalion Commanding Officer
  • Squad Leaders can request that an op counts as SP for an entire section if the S3 Operation is either overlapping with the regular Section Practice time. Approval is required from the Company Commander.
• Billeted S7 Instructors cannot receive SP makeup credit for teaching a class
• Playing casual on a public or training server for an hour without section or higher level staff present does not count as acceptable SP Makeup.

Exceptions

Unless otherwise stated above, exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by the respective Company Commander or higher and before the Cav week of the missed SP has completed. Any makeup disputes or clarification should be sent to Battalion Staff for review.

Process for Makeups

The process to make up a practice is as follows:

1. If you miss an SP, you are to inform your section staff and attempt one of the acceptable SP Makeups mentioned above.
2. You are then to notify your SL/ASL that you completed a makeup and what option you did for your makeup or what SP you attended.
3. If you are not able to do any of those, then you are to take an LOA per 7CAV-R-020.
4. If you have already taken an LOA for the month and you cannot do any of the qualifying makeup SP's, then you are allowed to ask for an exception from your SL to what counts as a makeup. Approval should then be sent up to CoC by forum PM to Platoon Staff and then forwarded to Company Staff for final approval before the end of that Cav week.

Company Staff and up will monitor these exceptions, and if it appears anyone is abusing the system, further counseling or disciplinary action may be taken.

SP Time Change

The changing of a Section Practice time can be requested by the respective Section Leader through platoon staff and requires company approval. A SP time change may only be requested with valid reasoning for the time change. SP time change requests without valid justification will be denied.

In order to change the SP time, the following steps need to be taken:

• The Section Leader needs to speak to every trooper of the section about the new SP time if the trooper is able to make the new time.
• At least 60% of the troopers need to agree on switching the SP time before a time change request can be submitted through platoon staff to company HQ.
• If a trooper is unable to make the new time, section and platoon staff need to work with the trooper in question to find a new fitting SP time for the trooper and request or process the respective transfer.
• Before an SP time change can be approved, all troopers of the respective section must either agree on the suggested SP time or have been transferred to a different section.
