=Role of Platoon Staff=
The '''Platoon Leader''' is the lowest position held by a commissioned officer.  He is appointed after successfully passing an officers board held by staff officers and NCO's in the battalion.  The '''Platoon Leader '''manages his platoon through his Platoon Sergeant.  Where the Platoon Sergeant is primarily concerned with the individual troopers, the '''Platoon Leader''' is primarily concerned with the platoon as a whole. The '''Platoon Leader '''is responsible for establishing policy and planning for the platoon.  They ensure the platoon is focused on the correct training, and that the platoon as a whole maintains effectiveness and unit readiness.  He is also responsible for ensuring that the Platoon Sergeant is meeting the minimum standards and is holding those below him to their standards. The Platoon Leader will be held personally responsible for the success or failure of the platoon.  The Platoon Leader reports to the Company Commander, usually through the Executive Officer.

As Platoon Staff, you're expected to issue the appropriate paperwork/discipline for accountability issues within your Platoon and not delegate this task to Section Staff.

Role of Platoon Staff

The role of the Platoon Staff is to execute the vision of the Company Staff respective to the Military Occupation Specialties assigned within the Platoon. Platoon Staff is comprised of the following:

  • Platoon Leader
  • Platoon Sergeant

Responsibilities

The following is a list of basic responsibilities. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, merely the base from which to start. Refer to the Platoon Staff ICS in the Company or Battalion SOPs for a more complete list of duties and responsibilities.

  • Responsible for the ongoing health and morale of the Platoon in all respects.
  • Be available to the troopers of the Platoon at all times when online.
  • Admin game servers as required.
  • Perform administrative duties associated with the Platoon, i.e. reports, counseling, discipline.
  • Train and directly supervise Section Leaders / ASL's
  • Other duties as required.

Platoon Leader Duties

Daily Duties

  • Take Care of Troopers - When on Discord or Teamspeak be available for your troopers. Be prompt when responding to requests for assistance over Discord, Teamspeak, or the forums.
  • Make an effort to meet with your Section Leaders to build a rapport and ensure a positive working relationship with them.
  • Spend time with troopers and leadership within your Platoon.
  • Counseling - Issue appropriate counseling measures as required to ensure understanding and compliance with all rules, regulations and minimum expectations.
  • Ensure information is passed up and down the Chain of Command in a timely manner.

Weekly Duties

  • Accountability - Ensure you are attending one Section Practice a week within the Company.
  • Roll Call - Ensure Section roll calls are posted in the appropriate area of the forums no later than 0700HRS Zulu every Sunday.
  • Report - Submit your weekly report no later than 0700HRS Zulu every Wednesday.
  • Presence - Spend at least one hour per week on the public server OR use that same hour to conduct an office hour in Discord voice to be available to Troopers while doing Cav work. Either option for one hour fulfills this requirement.
