Steam Tags Policy

Recently Steam has updated their system to allow for family sharing. Our existing policies regarding Steam Tags is that they should be changed to reflect a members Cav Identity, and a group thank those who have always complied with this.

In the past we have run into issues with hold outs, that were exempted due to stated "sharing of their steam account" with their significant other / excetera. This was a valid and reasonable complaint, as I can appreciate not wanting to buy three or four copies of a single player game, when your kids only occasionally play Shogun 2.

However, moving forward, and in light of Steams Family Sharing ( http://store.steampowered.com/sharing/ ) Which allows for 10 devices across up to 5 separate Steam accounts, this is no longer a valid exemption.

What does this mean for you

Effective starting 1 MAY 2014, all current 7th Cavalry personnel, will be required to wear their uniform tags in their Steam Profile, ( and are encouraged to have steam in the first place ). As Steam is supported/integrated directly into the majority of our games, we are investigating ways to leverage this tool better in the organization, and having everyone on the same page is in keeping with this.

Enforcement

We will passively monitor for compliance. If your tags are out of order, you will be politely approached regarding correcting your Steam Nickname.

1st Event: You will be directed to this guidance, and provided 24 hours to ensure compliance.

2nd Event: You will be directed to this guidance, and provided 24 hours to ensure compliance. A message will be sent to the Chief of Staff who will log the event.

3rd Event: You will be asked to come in for a sit down with the Chief of Staff or designate, in order to review why there seems to be a recurring issue, and determine next steps.

I appreciate that some folks who currently share their account will need a few days to create accounts for their partners / family members where necessary and link them in via family sharing. As such enforcement will not begin until 1MAY2014 as stated above.
